Seven days can pass pretty quickly and things tend to pass you by. To make sure you don’t miss anything on The Football Project, we’re going to recap everything we’ve done this week so you can perhaps catch up on something that may have slipped past your radar. We’re nice like that.
After the victory over Wales, even more questions were asked for the England team. No England supporters seem to be happy with earning six points from two games and a situation that leaves the national team on the brink of Euro 2012 qualification. Looking ahead Simon McPolin has already predicted that in nine months time, the excuse of English players being tired for a major championship will be rolled out and has looked back on previous tournaments, asking a simple question: Do England player play too many games?
David Moyes drew quite the bit of attention this week on the site with Simon Furnivall and guest writer Mark Woolley focusing on the Everton manager. Simon kicked things off by concluding that Moyes should leave Everton for the sake of his own managerial career; and Mark rather nicely follow it up by suggesting just the place for Moyes to excel; Manchester United. Both writers agree that his future lies away from Goodison Park.
English football has already seen its first manager lose their job this season. Rather surprisingly it was at Kettering Town. Neil Bellis is on hand to take a look at the murky past of Morell Maison and even asks whether Kettering fans should be worried at his continued involvement with the club.
In Germany, Hamburg have not started the season well. Paul Borthwick and Hamburg fan Ross Dunbar took time to debate just what they think Hamburg can expect from their season in our second Back and Forth.
Paul also looked ahead to the start of the Champions League and Europea League group stages, with a preview of how successful the German clubs may be this season. He’s even gone for one of the German sides to end up walking away with their trophy.
Freddy Adu remains one of those players that everyone remembers from their Championship/Football Manager exploits. Everywhere he moves to, the eyes of the world follow. Following his recent move to Major League Soccer and the Philadelphia Union, James Hunt profiled Adu and what he has been up to in real-life since we all poached him from DC United and turned the prodigy into a world-beater.
Plus, you can put some of The Football Project between your ears with our podcast. This week, the podcast was recorded on location in Fulham as Ryan Keaney and Jamie Cutteridge headed to Brazil versus Ghana. The pair discussed non-league day, the international week, Neymar’s hair, Robbie Keane’s career and there was even time for Jamie to share the story of what he did on his birthday.
Check it all out.
